Originally built in the 90s, the Parkwood Tavern has been one of the cornerstones of the local community for over three decades. And while a series of minor refurbishments has seen this Gold Coast venue updated throughout the years, Parkwood’s favourite meeting place was in need of a revitalisation project that would transform the locale into a contemporary space for its diverse demographic spanning hospital workers, families and students.
Carried out by Cayas + Ward, one of Australia’s leading commercial architecture firms, the rejuvenation project took gentle cues from the Ballybunion Park, a lush, eucalyptus-filled reserve the venue backs onto. The design team – with Marina Bacha, an Interior Designer at Cayas + Ward, at the helm, curated a warm palette anchored by a splash of green which was brought in through the elements of the fit-out, and the foliage incorporated throughout the venue.
The selection of textures further enhances this connection with the outdoors, and ForestOne's EGGER laminates and panels play a pivotal role in establishing that conceptual dialogue. At the Parkwood Tavern, the pronounced visual language of the Natural Hamilton Oak has been further enhanced by the 18mm Eurodekor panels which bring the same authentic character to the banquet seating, shelving and planter boxes throughout the space. Providing a point of counterbalance, a deeper and more atmospheric shade of EGGER Black U999 ST19 laminate brings a sense of practical refinement to the banquet seating, as it fuses the sophistication of a timeless, dark finish with the latest in surface technology. Similarly, the venue's triangle screen boasts Black PerfectSense U999 PT 18mm panels, alongside the Natural Hamilton Oak H3303 ST10 and Apricot Nude U232 ST9.
