QuadShield and ImpactShield plasterboard from Knauf now achieve 100% points in the relevant materials categories for Green Star building projects, the company reports.

This announcement follows the recent certification of both products from Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA). Both now meet the requirements of GECA Panel Board Standard 04-2011, which include:

  • sourcing materials in a sustainable manner and ensuring they are not harmful to the environment
  • actions on waste minimisation in production and recycling of consumer waste; and
  • ensuring no components of the system effect indoor environment and human well-being.

General Manager for Marketing and Strategy at Knauf, Margaret O'Neill, explains that with the certification, "Knauf now has a wider range of internal lining solutions for Green Star buildings."

"GECA certified MastaShieldECO and FireShieldECO have already been installed in the Mid City Centre, Sydney and QuadShield has been specified and will be installed in the Queensland Children’s Hospital, South Brisbane," she notes.

QuadShield is a four in one product that offers solid impact, water and fire resistance, as well as sound insulation properties. ImpactShield is a high density, impact resistant plasterboard.
