Centre Director, Professor Stuart Cunningham, said: “These estimates confirm the robust growth of the architecture sector in this state, and give us confidence that the innovative HEAT Architecture program run by the Queensland government is paying real dividends”.

Meanwhile, a new documentary commissioned by the HEAT Architecture Program was previewed at the Gallery on Modern Art (GOMA) in Brisbane on Tuesday, 25 October (see video below).

HEAT Architecture is an initiative of the Queensland Government which supports the state’s architectural and related design businesses. Its aims include highlighting and initiating discussions around the value of good architectural design in both private and public projects.

The film highlights where Queensland’s architects are world leaders, such as in sustainable design, ‘with more green office space per sqm than any other part of Australia’, and ‘providing affordable construction projects and delivering highly efficient buildings’.

It features testimonials from senior figures in property, including Grocon, Leighton Properties, Nielson Properties and Laing O’Rourke, who have seen business gains as a result of appointing Queensland-based architecture firms.
