A SUPAWOOD DRIFTWOOD rustic timber ceiling completes the fresh welcoming theme for the Natural Fresh Grocer store at Westfield Burwood, NSW.

Positioned at the gateway to the fresh food marketplace, the store is adjacent to a major supermarket which presented strong competition. It was vital the designers, Mima Design, created a theme which moved away from the clinical supermarket feel by creating a warm and welcoming shopping experience.

DRIFTWOOD proved the perfect system for the ceiling lining as it complemented the organic rustic theme chosen to celebrate the fresh produce of the store.

The DRIFTWOOD in the Whitewashed finish covers the main ceiling areas of the 330m² store. The slats have been cleverly installed to run from the front of the store to the rear to achieve a directional pull into the store and down the aisles. The lightness of the Whitewashed ceiling lightens the store, while below darker elements have been used to enhance the display of the colourful produce. The combination of materials achieves a strong sense of traditional character with a fresh contemporary feel.

The store’s interior design combines a modern shopping experience with the old-style values of fresh food produce. In this project the simple use of a DRIFTWOOD weathered effect timber ceiling shows how this unique SUPAWOOD product aids in achieving the client’s brief to create a warm welcoming atmosphere.
