Royal Philips won four accolades at the 2013 Australian International Design Awards presented by Good Design Australia.

The SimplyGo oxygen system and the TrueBlue apnea mask from Philips Healthcare as well as the PerfectCare Aqua iron and the Antumbra lighting user interface panel were honoured with Design Awards.

Proud that their design-driven innovations can contribute to improving people’s lives while simultaneously receiving industry recognition, Sean Carney, Chief Design Officer of Philips comments that their design approach has always been to consider not only the user but also the context of use. Explaining that healthcare products and solutions are increasingly being used outside the hospital, he said that the designers have, in the case of their SimplyGo and TrueBlue products shown sensitivity to the use of these critical medical devices in the patient’s home environment to minimise intrusion and ensure effective usage.

Alan McCarthy, Managing Director, Philips Australia New Zealand adds that Philips’ vision is to make the world healthier and more sustainable through innovation, with the products embodying their design philosophy of integrating technologies and form into innovations and solutions to help people be healthy, live well and enjoy life.

Philips SimplyGo, a continuous flow portable oxygen concentrator weighing less than ten pounds has made it easier than ever for nearly all oxygen users to get around.

Philips TrueBlue is a comfortable gel cushion mask used with a CPAP machine to treat obstructive sleep apnea, a condition in which people stop breathing repeatedly during sleep. This mask offers a higher degree of comfort, stability, and freedom of movement with minimal adjustments.

The stylish Philips PerfectCare Aqua makes ironing simpler by utilising the OptimalTemp technology to create one perfect setting for all types of clothes.

Antumbra, a unique user interface panel from Philips Dynalite is used for professional lighting and building control.

Additionally, the Philips BodyGroom Plus, a complete precision shaver tailored for all-over hair removal, received recognition for its good design.
