Face bricks from PGH Bricks & Pavers were used as a prominent architectural feature at the newly developed Banbury Village.
Located at the site of the former Olympic Tyre & Rubber Factory in the inner western Melbourne suburb of Footscray, Banbury Village has been developed by Cedarwoods as a vibrant, medium density village.
The architectural diversity of the Village is seen in the range of buildings from detached two storey houses to three storey apartments and townhouses.
The Village also showcases the decorative possibilities of multiple building materials and claddings, particularly the face bricks from PGH, the selection of which is integral to the contextual setting of a mix of industrial, commercial and residential buildings.
Architects dKO selected the PGH Bricks & Pavers palette of Blue Steel Flash, Haberfield and Black & Tan as the dominant face brick for the apartment buildings of the development, making bricks a key part of the apartment’s form and narrative. The depth and colour range of the bricks also enhance the contemporary architecture of the townhouses.
