    FAQ

Marine plywood is typically attributed to being a higher grade of wood, which makes it both stronger and more durable. This type of plywood features no voids or defects that leads to it lasting longer in outdoor conditions and environments where it may be exposed to water. Contrary to what you’d expect, marine plywood is not in itself waterproof but rather a quality plywood made with waterproof glue.

The standard size of plywood in Australia is 2440mm by 1220mm. These tedious, specific measurements are due to the standard size of plywood in the United States being 4 by 8 feet, which leads to conversions being rounded up or down to suit the metric system. Plywood panels made in Australia come as a 2400 X 1200mm panel in a variety of thicknesses which vary between manufacturers and brands.

The best grade plywood is referred to as ‘A-grade’. Plywood sheets are separated into four grades: A, B, C and D. Each sheet of ply contains two grades, for example AB or BC, with the first letter of the grade being the face veneer and the second being relevant to the back veneer. A-grade plywood features sheets without flaws and is the best grade plywood available, perfect for wall lining designs using our architectural products.
