Safe-Cell, a vandal-resistant and anti-ligature showerhead from Galvin Engineering was specified for a new correctional facility in Wiri, South Auckland, NZ.

The Wiri Men's Prison (NZ) designed by Mode Codd Stenders/ Peddle Thorp Aitken is a 960-bed correctional facility, financed, built, operated and maintained by the Secure Future consortium on behalf of the New Zealand Department of Corrections. The facility focuses on rehabilitation and making communities safer.

Having worked on similar correctional projects in New Zealand, Galvin Engineering was able to assist the client with the selection of a high quality product backed by a reliable supplier and technical advice. The team also ensured that the vandal-resistant and anti-ligature guidelines were taken into consideration.

Galvin’s Safe-Cell shower rose was selected for installation due to its easy maintenance and vandal-resistant aspects.

The three star showerhead also met the necessary flow and Green Star objectives that provided whole-of-life benefits for the facility.
