The second generation of the successful fischer Bolt FBN, the FBN II gvz, will be launched in mid October. Its most outstanding feature is its 50% higher tensile load capacity as shown by the European Technical Approval (Option 7) for non-cracked concrete. Smallest axial and edge spacings allow fixings close to edges and small anchor plates.

The FBN II gvz (zinc-plated) sets new standards and optimises the range of anchor bolts both for push-through and prior insertion methods for all safety-relevant fixings in non-cracked concrete. In its advanced design, fischer stressed quick and trouble-free setting with ultimate tensile and shear load capacities.

Professionals will be able to use the new FBN II gvz for all fixings and up to a fire resistance class of R120 in non-cracked concrete with the same adaptability as its predecessor, with a choice of two anchoring depths with official construction approval (ETA):

The standard anchoring depth relies on the anchor’s maximum performance capacity for ultimate loads.

The reduced anchoring depth minimises the drilling effort and allows ultimate flexibility at the building site. This is particularly useful when a longer effective length is required or if the drilling depth is limited (e.g. in existing reinforcements). The anchoring depth can be selected to match the appropriate situation and application.

In addition to the standard range with its two anchoring depths, the offer includes the short versions ‘K’ (only with the reduced anchoring depth) and many effective lengths – a reasonably priced alternative for structural fixings without stringent load requirements.

Processing convenience is enhanced by the setting power (number of hammer blows) and tightening slip (number of turns required to apply the setting torque). In spite of the high setting power which a bolt anchor needs, the FBN II gvz is sunk into the drill hole with relatively few blows. This is important in situations where no powerful blows are permitted or feasible, for instance in constructions difficult to access or for fixings set in ceilings.

A few turns of the nut are sufficient to apply the setting torque, and the anchor will ‘grip’. Due to its ductility, inexactly set anchors can be re-aligned once set, making for easy and conventient installation. The letters embossed on the head of the bolt identify the installed FBN II gvz and show the anchoring depth.

The interplay between expansion clip and cone results in ultimate tensile load capacities with the smallest edge and axial spacings in non-cracked concrete. The expansion pressure is so better distributed in the anchor base. The long thread guarantees ultimate flexibility, for instance for stand-off installations.

The direct comparison with its predecessor, the FBN, shows the improvements: for instance, to fix a centric load of 12 kN in concrete class C20/25 previously required an M16 bolt and a drill hole depth of 108 mm. The FBN II gvz with M12 at a drill hole depth of 85 mm is now approved for loads up to 12.6 kN. Less drilling effort saves time and money.

Visually distinct at a glance, the FBN II gvz features a formed shoulder above the expansion clip which prevents the clip from slipping through. The cold solid forming method makes the steel highly ductile which, in turn, allows the anchor to be realigned and readjusted if it has not been set precisely vertical to the surface of the concrete.

The FBN II gvz is blue zinc-plated and available in sizes ranging from M8 to M20. For special use in wood and timber structures, it is also available with an extra large DIN 440 washer in the sizes M12 and M16. Along with the new FBN II gvz fischer continues to offer the FBN M6 and the FBN A4 and FBN fvz.
