The 18-storey Brock Commons Tallwood House in Vancouver, Canada, the tallest contemporary mass wood building in the world, will be the focus of the keynote speech by architect Russell Acton at the upcoming Built Evolution Conference in Perth next month.
To be held at the Crown Convention Centre, Perth on Friday 7 April 2017, the conference aims to initiate discussion on how traditional timber framing and new mass timber building systems are revolutionising the design and construction sector in Australia.
The conference will explore how timber building systems are being used today for multi-residential and commercial building applications in Australia. International, national and local design and building professionals will present case studies featuring mid-rise and tall timber buildings and the use of technology to achieve design, performance and cost objectives.
A trade exhibition of products, systems and services will provide a platform to discuss solutions for multi-storey residential and commercial buildings.
Recommended for all building and design professionals including architects, engineers, building designers, certifiers, developers, regulators and educators, the conference is eligible for up to six CPD points.
The timber conference is being held at the Crown Convention Centre, Perth on Friday 7th April.

In 2015, the University of British Columbia selected Acton Ostry Architects as architects for the Brock Commons Tallwood House project. An 18-storey student residence, the Brock Commons Tallwood House, when completed in spring 2017, will be the tallest contemporary mass wood building in the world.
