A new $175,000 pop-up urinal has been installed in the heart of Perth's entertainment district, the first of its kind in Australia.
Installed in the nightlife hotspot of Northbridge, the innovative Uri-Lift is designed to lie dormant during the day and hydraulically lift into action at night when revellers crowd the streets.
Australia’s first retractable public toilet, the Uri-Lift provides a more convenient and hygienic alternative to public urination on weekends. Featuring a stainless steel construction and water-saving qualities, the self-cleaning toilet is connected directly to the city's sewerage system.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi says the urinal meets the demand for more public toilets without compromising the aesthetics of its surrounding public spaces.
