Frasers Property Australia’s new headquarters in Rhodes Corporate Park in NSW has achieved a WELL Building certification, with a GOLD rating.

Designed by architects BVN, the $9.8 million office fit-out which comprises 3,700-square-metres spread across two levels, is only the second in Australia to receive this highly coveted sustainability certification, and only one of 14 globally (GOLD certification).

It is also one of the first in Australia designed to target both 6-Star Green Star Interiors v1.1 (Green Building Council of Australia) and WELL (International Well Building Institute) certifications.

According to Reini Otter, executive general manager, Commercial & Industrial and Investment Property, “The design approach, in collaboration with BVN Architects, makes conscious use of passive design as part of a strategy to encourage movement – both for fitness and to promote unplanned conversations and collaboration.”

“Fundamental to the design is the belief that the built environment can directly affect our health – making employee wellbeing a top priority,” he says.

WELL buildings are given credits for seven categories including air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind.

According to the company, there has been a 56 percent improvement in staff satisfaction for overall health and productivity. Spatial comfort is up 77 percent, indoor air quality has improved by 64 percent and visual comfort recorded a 44 percent increase in satisfaction levels.

Earlier this year, Frasers Property’s headquarters also picked up a Workplace Design award at the Australian Interior Design Awards.
