Open Universities engaged the Spectrum Australia Group for the workplace design, construction and project management of their new campus in Melbourne.
Located just 2km from Melbourne CBD in the inner-western suburb of Docklands, the campus features a fresh and vibrant design to project the evolving nature of the work and learning space. Through multifunctional and collaborative spaces, the new workplace encourages a culture of connectivity and exchange between individuals.
The new office is a space that inspires through thoughtful design. Spread over 2700 square metres, the Open Universities building leverages three-storey high atrium ceilings paired with extravagant trees in the Reception and Town Hall meeting spaces to create a relaxing and tranquil welcoming environment.
Each element of the space has been thoughtfully chosen for practicality and functionality. Rooms are made to be inherently adaptive, with writable walls and designs that encourage multi-functionality, while the overall open-plan layout enhances seamless spatial transitions to maximise workflow and productivity.
The harmonious balance of work and play is achieved through the composition of a dedicated staff hub complemented by an overlay of electric and vibrant graphics and accents of bright colours. The office explores a narrative of a productive workplace enhanced by comfort and a focus on health and wellbeing.
The kitchen, which has been designed as a central meeting space and hub within the office, has a light-filled environment complemented with splashes of colour from the expansive graphic murals along the walls.
