Designer Fred Tabet of Wonderful Kitchens created a modern kitchen design for home owners who wanted their new kitchen to be modern, but above all to have a large preparation area and servery.

To achieve this, a large 2.7m x 1.2m central island without an overhang or a sink was proposed by the Wonderful Kitchens designer. The open plan space includes a breakfast table close to the island, which is finished in the same dark veneer as kitchen cabinetry.

"The island gives them a large, clear area for food preparation, and guests and family can be close to the kitchen at the table," says Tabet.

The kitchen design includes a mix of white and timber veneered cabinetry, topped with Alpine White quartz benchtops that gives the kitchen a sleek, modern look.

To enhance the modern kitchen design, the walls behind the hob and the sink were finished with large full height glass splashbacks.
