Vergola (NSW) celebrated their 30-year anniversary last year by installing their open close roof system at the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick. This was the company’s way of giving back to the community that had supported their business growth over the years.

The Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation had the perfect site for a Vergola outdoor roof system. The Psychological Medicine Department at the hospital had an unused outdoor area within their Saunder’s Unit that was too hot in summer and very exposed in the rain, creating discomfort for anyone using the space.

The Saunder’s Unit provides tailored mental health inpatient services to support young people, and to care for those who experience problems associated with acute mental illness. The unit works with teenagers and their families to manage difficulties and learn strategies to adapt to changes in their lives.

Following the installation of the Vergola opening roof system, the teen patients are better protected from the harsh sun in summer and can enjoy sunshine during the cooler months. The newly covered outdoor area provides patients with a relaxed, flexible, functional and beautiful space that they can use any time of the year.
