Supacoustic PLK modular acoustic panels from Supawood Architectural Lining Systems were used as a wall and ceiling lining solution during the conversion of a school gym into a multi-purpose hall.

The exposed interior brick walls, wooden floor and high ceiling in the old gymnasium of a Western Sydney High School posed major sound reverberation problems, making the hall unusable for school gatherings.

Supacoustic PLK modular acoustic panels were chosen as a noise reduction solution during the refurbishment and extension of the gymnasium to create a suitable multipurpose space for the school.

Key requirements of the project designers for the solution included a durable and effective acoustic panel product that could be installed to existing surfaces including around features as well as deliver an upmarket finish within the specified budget. The acoustic panels also needed to be fire retardant since the project involved a school facility.

Supawood’s Supacoustic and Supaline PLK noise reduction materials met all these requirements. The designers chose the Supacoustic PLK acoustic panels in Supafinish spotted gum concept veneer, which creates the illusion of natural wood panels throughout.

Supacoustic PLK modular acoustic panels are a basic pre-finished modular acoustic panel lining kit system, designed for direct fixing onto broad areas of ceilings or walls and come in both slotted and solid options.

Supawood worked with the project designers by providing valuable technical input during the installation. Reliable lead times could be met as the Supacoustic PLK modular acoustic panels were supplied in standard panel sizes.

Supacoustic PLK acoustic panels have delivered significant results in noise reduction in the hall to the school’s satisfaction.
