Watermark Freshwater, the new apartment complex at the redeveloped Harbord Diggers in Sydney redefines luxurious retirement living with its prime coastal location and generous amenities.

Representing a new standard in senior living, Watermark Freshwater offers residents various options for a flexible and integrated lifestyle. The architecturally designed apartments are located above a buzzing dining, fitness and entertainment precinct, with the senior residents also having access to facilities such as a private garden area, secure parking, a 24-hour concierge service, emergency call buttons and onsite health check-ups among others.

Designed by Architectus and CHROFI, the Watermark apartments offer sensational views over Freshwater. The interiors feature beautiful floorboards not usually seen in senior living apartments.

Initially, only a few of the buyers chose to upgrade to timber floors. However, once a display suite featuring Style Timber flooring was created, more than 80 per cent of the buyers opted for the timber upgrade. The display suite showed purchasers how stunning the apartments looked with timber floors and how well they complemented the rest of the interiors.

“To achieve the client’s luxury look for the apartment at Harbord Diggers, the design group selected Style Timber’s oak timber flooring. The team at Style Timber were knowledgeable and assisted the design team with queries on the suitability of the flooring in a coastal environment and information on slip resistance,” Jennifer Husman from Architectus explained.

“We are seeing a shift in thinking and design surrounding seniors living, with architects and developers focussing on beautifully designed spaces and finishes,” observes Tilly Cefai, Style Timber Floor.

Timber flooring in high-end retirement living apartments not only looks modern and stylish but also makes practical sense. Timber floors are easier to clean than carpet, which is an important consideration for older people. Additionally, timber works with contemporary or traditional décor. It’s also cool in summer and warm in winter.

Milano Marrone 190mm engineered oak wide boards were used for the flooring at the Watermark Freshwater apartments.
