Centralised hot water systems located a long way from the kitchen sink are not practical as it may take considerable time for the hot water to arrive through the pipework. A lot of cold water is pushed through the pipework before the heated water arrives at the tap, resulting in wastage of a precious resource. Once the hot water use is over and the tap is turned off, there is a quantity of hot water remaining in the pipe that eventually cools down, wasting the energy that was used to heat it up.

Stiebel Eltron Australia presents the SNU, an open vented, single point of use, compact storage water heater designed to service one kitchen sink. Installed directly underneath the sink, the SNU uses a specialised open vented sink mixer; four open vented sink mixers are available to suit the water heater. The sink mixer connects directly to the water heater, with only 50cm of hose available to push through cold water before hot water arrives at the tap, thereby minimising water wastage.

Available in 5-litre and 10-litre capacities, SNU storage water heaters can deliver hot water up to 85 degrees Celsius temperatures. The system is fitted directly underneath the sink and only requires a cold water feed and a standard 10 Amp 240 power-point.
