On Saturday 28th March 2009, Solatube Australia will take part in Earth Hour. Earth hour is an event that will take place all over Australia. People are asked to turn off their lights for one hour, between 8:30-9:30 pm, to show their support towards reducing climate change. Solatube Australia is taking the idea one step further in 2009, by asking owners of buildings to celebrate Earth Hour for the entire day.

Solatube manufacture the Solatube Daylighting System, an environmentally friendly, natural lighting system that helps buildings reduce their daily energy consumption by allowing them to switch off their electric lights during daylight hours. It is an energy efficient alternative to skylights and regular light fittings.

The Solatube Daylighting System can help to save up to 190 pounds of carbon emission per year, and can also be used in conjunction with a fluorescent light add-on kit.

Solatube also offer the Solatube Tubular Daylighting Device (TDD). It is Australia’s only Energy Star rated natural lighting system that addresses three key issues: light control, heat and glare. The TDD system is simple to install and can be controlled with accessories such as the daylight dimmer, inner shock dome and security bars.
