The Palace Nova Cinema in Adelaide went through a complete upgrade to give the movie theatre a new lease of life while also delivering a superior cinematic experience to its patrons in a curated and high-quality atmosphere.

ITN Architects was engaged to enhance the current interiors in line with the cinema’s expansion.

The project brief sought to upgrade the look and feel of the cinema to an on-trend and inspirational space to match the luxurious ethos of the cinema brand; expand the existing four cinemas into eight – complete with upgraded seating, projection and sound; and retain and reuse existing walls wherever possible, while also providing a fashionable touch to the interiors.

The architects were required to work within the existing building shell while giving the cinemas a complete makeover. The tight budget and building program were additional challenges since the cinemas had to be ready for the peak December/January period.

Focussed on designing a space that reflected the artistic inspiration shown on screen, the architects chose a strong graphic look for the interior walls. To achieve their design objectives, they selected Signature Shapes carpet tiles based on their unique colour and shapes offering.

Why Signature Floorconcepts

Seeking a quick and simple graphic solution for the side walls of the cinema, the architects chose Signature Shapes carpet tiles in a broad range of shapes and bold colours, using the endless options to achieve the desired design outcomes. The pre-cut carpet tiles from Signature Floors allowed speedy installation and also met budgetary limitations.

The client was very happy with the finished result as well as the quick turnaround. The installation progressed smoothly, with the cinemas opening on time.
