Prodema from SGI Architectural was specified for both stages of Stockwell’s Riverpoint Apartments building project in West End Brisbane.

While the first stage of the riverfront apartment building project was completed in 2010, the second stage was fast-tracked to completion in June 2015 to meet the huge demand for the prestigious property. Prodema was specified for the building exterior in both stages of the project.

Zinc, copper and Prodema featured extensively on the external facade of the individual buildings, with the zinc and copper elements chosen for their weathering properties. Prodema provided the depth and richness of form that complemented the contrast of the zinc and copper materials. Prodema’s durability and minimal maintenance features integrated with the structure’s precast concrete panels have ensured the success of the now five-year-old facade.

Prodema’s success in Stage 1 of the project influenced the decision to replicate the facade in the subsequent stage. Consisting of 50 luxury units adjoining the existing Stage 1 riverfront apartments, Stage 2 utilised Prodema facade panels to provide depth of material as well as to ensure design continuity between the two stages.

Civic Construction Group was engaged by Stockwell Developments for the design and construct of Riverpoint Stage 2, with the architectural brief requiring the building envelope to complement the external facade details and materials used in the adjoining existing stage. One of the predominant facade materials was Prodema.

Some of the facade details required Prodema cladding to meet in three planes. The construction of these areas required highly detailed design from structure to final installation. The structural arrangement of the building was complicated; however, the final facade characterises clean straight lines representing a simple modern look.

The fixing details, material stability and quality of Prodema allowed Civic Constructions to meet the required detail without excessive fixings or sub frame support often required by other materials.

Civic Construction engaged Skypanel to supply and install the Prodema element of the build. Skypanel worked closely with interfacing trades to achieve the best outcomes for waterproofing, build-ability and aesthetics when utilising Prodema composite panels.

Skypanel Director Tim Malloy appreciated the continued support and service received from SGI Architectural during the execution of the project.
