A portable stage from the PILOT podium range by Select Staging Concepts is allowing the organist at The Albert Hall in Launceston to play evocative music on their Brindley Air Organ. Simple to erect, the PILOT stage podiums allow the organist to be seated at the right height, with room to move and perform.

One of Launceston’s most significant heritage buildings, The Albert Hall features the Classical Victorian style of monumental public architecture. The Hall covers an area of 14,000 square feet and was recognised at the time as the world’s 11th largest building. Select Staging Concepts’ black timber stained PILOT podiums blend aesthetically with the elegant surroundings.

The Brindley Air Organ, situated in the Great Hall, is Australia’s largest surviving organ pre-dating 1860. Built of local timbers including blackwood and huon pine, the organ features bellows lined with original kangaroo skin, and is believed to be the only one of its type in the world when installed in 1892.
