Schiavello introduces a new table designed to empower users to work in alternative transitional spaces at the workplace.

Designed by Doshi Levien, and developed and manufactured by Schiavello in Australia, the On The Move or OTM table is an ideal solution for break-out areas, or community/collaboration and retreat spaces.

Doshi Levien is an internationally acclaimed design studio based in London. Designer duo Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien explained that the idea was to create an object offering all the performance advantages of a table without the appearance of a piece of equipment. While Nipa’s work resonates with a deep influence of her Indian cultural roots, Jonathan’s trained background originally began in fine cabinet-making, before going on to industrial design.

Designed as the perfect balance of both function and aesthetics, OTM is a practical accent for office and home enclaves. With a capacity to carry up to 20kg and featuring a height-adjustable design, OTM tables provide a very stable surface to users as they work comfortably from a sofa or a lounge chair. An OTM table can hold a laptop securely, allowing for spontaneous pop-up meetings.

Key features of OTM tables include an effortless ‘twist grip’ mechanism allowing the user to adjust the surface height from 580mm to 780mm to suit a variety of positions and working modes; 6mm thin aluminium surface finished with a robust powder-coat finish; lightweight aluminium construction; and adaptability to future colour trends.

Schiavello Design Manager Michelle Hyams explains that the OTM table’s lightweight aluminium construction allows easy movement and adaptability for individual use, adding that the material lends itself to a smooth and even surface finish, which makes it perfect for powder-coated finishes, resulting in a sleek, durable product.
