SBS Group provided a smarter, easier and more productive solution for building an additional level at an office in Wheelers Hill, Victoria.
Designed by architects Cosentino Group, and built by Hallmarc, the Brandon Park office extension project involved the addition of a new level to the existing office building. On being approached by the builder for a solution, SBS Group suggested a lightweight steel alternative that could eliminate a significant quantity of the costly structural steel originally specified for the purpose.
All the walls and roof trusses were manufactured using BHP’s superior Truecore steel material. The SBS in-house detailing team coordinated shop drawings, 3D modelling and framing layouts, and independently engineered the 1507 certification.
The frames were prefabricated and delivered to the site for a quick and efficient install. The prefabrication ensured the steel frames were straight, true and accurate, while the use of steel eliminated any risk of shrinking, rotting or twisting often associated with the use of timber.
