Safetyline Jalousie supplied their louvre windows to the new Kurrawa Surf Life Saving Club on the Gold Coast to meet compliance requirements.

The Kurrawa Surf Life Saving Club went through a $15 million redevelopment ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Designed by architectural firm Arkhefield, the project was managed by construction experts Paynter Dixon with the facility sufficiently equipped to meet the needs of the Surf Club in their lifesaving duties as well as provide a family-friendly establishment for residents and visitors.

Featuring an expansive dining area and bar with 230-degree views, the club also served as one of the major hospitality sites for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows were selected by Arkhefield to ventilate the venue’s new gaming area in compliance with relevant smoking laws. Overlooking Broadbeach, these louvre windows were installed on the second level and easily able to accommodate the minimum requirement of 80% free flow air.

Key features of Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows installed at the venue include detachable winder mechanisms ensuring the louvres allowed uninterrupted flow of air at all times; ability to open and lock the louvres in place when the area is occupied and close them to keep the building air- and water-tight outside of business hours; product meeting fall prevention and balustrade compliance regulations; and sturdy design allowing the louvres to be open at all times to maximise airflow while also maintaining a safe and secure environment for patrons.

Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows are available in any powdercoat or anodised finish. For the Surf Club installation, the architect, keeping the site’s close proximity to salt water in mind, selected a high performance Duratec powdercoat, Dulux Eternity Titanium Pearl Satin, which provided a guaranteed hardwearing and serviceable finish as well as excellent colour retention.

The Kurrawa Surf Life Saving Club will service the Gold Coast well after the Commonwealth Games. Safetyline Jalousie’s durable design will assist in ensuring that the facility retains its quality for many years to come.

Safetyline Jalousie supplied 20 louvre windows measuring 1414mm and 1279mm in height, and width of 742 – 1160mm with motorised and manual winders.
