Choosing more efficient products can help you save water and money.

The Water Efficient Labelling and Standards Scheme (WELS), a water rating initiative by the Australian Government, predicts that by 2021, Australians could save more than one billion dollars through reduced water and energy bills, simply by choosing more water efficient and energy efficient products.

WELS estimates that by 2021, water saving products will help to:
  • reduce domestic water use by more than 100,000 megalitres each year;
  • save more than 800,000 megalitres (more water than Sydney Harbour); and
  • reduce total greenhouse gas output by 400,000 tonnes each year - equivalent to taking 90,000 cars off the road each year.
According to the WELS scheme, over one third of the water savings will come from more efficient showers, 34 per cent from washing machines and 23 per cent from toilets and urinals.

The Department of the Environment, Water Heritage and the Arts has published a guide to water efficient toilets and urinals, emphasising that consumers should check the water efficiency or star rating when it comes to choosing water efficient products.

When it comes down to the crunch, the more water rating stars, the more efficient the product is.

The RBA Group offers a range of attractive, vandal resistant, stainless steel toilets and urinals that have WATERMARK certification and are WELS scheme approved.
