Edith Paarhammer of Paarhammer Windows & Doors was recently awarded
the 2014 AWA Woman of the Year title for her contributions to the Australian
window industry.
The AWA Australian Windows Association has created a ‘Woman of the Year’
Award to recognise the outstanding contributions made by women to the window
industry.
Edith Paarhammer has been instrumental in building the business since 1990,
when Paarhammer began operations to manufacture their windows. Twenty-four
years later, she now concentrates on marketing and company direction.
Though her husband Tony is the ‘Window Expert’, Edith is
knowledgeable in all aspects of window and door production, materials,
manufacturing methods, energy and bushfire ratings, and glass combinations, and
is a source both journalists and industry turn to for technical information and
advice.
Edith has spent a considerable part of the last few years assisting with
the development of bushfire windows; currently, she is focussed on the BAL-FZ
approval, product marketing and educating Shire Councils and building
inspectors, in addition to architects, designers, developers and homeowners.
Edith has also been writing regular window newsletters since 2005 for a
large recipient base of architects, builders, designers, Shires, bushfire
consultants and media contacts. A blog begun two years ago on windows and doors
covers trends from around the world in addition to safety issues, statistics,
compliance, and bushfire safety.
Edith’s contributions and efforts over the years have helped raise the
profile of the window industry in Australia, proving her to be a worthy
recipient of the AWA Woman of the Year 2014 Award.
