Orrcon recently won the 2011 Australian Business Award for Best Software Product with its Section Translation Guide (STG) internet based structural design software.

Now in its 6th year, the Australian Business Awards program recognises organisations that demonstrate business excellence, product innovation, corporate responsibility, sustainability and commercial success in their respective industries.

A total of 103 recipients were honoured from the 928 organisations that participated in the 2011 Awards.

The Australian Business Award for Best Software Product acknowledges software products that offer a point of difference in operating systems, development tools, applications and utilities.

Managing Director for Orrcon Steel Mr Leon Andrewartha comments on the award; “This award shows Orrcon Steel is very competent technically and reinforces our commitment to research and development."

“This innovative approach in support of Australian design technology is just a part of our efforts to enable our customers to improve their energy efficiency and reduce the level of green house gases” says Leon.

Dario Beccia, Senior Project Engineer with Orrcon Steel, has guided the development of this Australian first, internet based structural design software service.

“The STG will allow structural design engineers and architects to assess the use of hollow sections to replace open sections with just a click of a mouse – providing numerous benefits on top of the simplicity of choice.”

“The STG structural design software is a free resource to industry, which will introduce more structural designers to Orrcon Steel,” comments Dario.
