Ontera Modular Carpets  recently supplied uniquely designed loop-pile carpet tiles for two new government buildings on Palm Island, located off the coast of Townsville.

Palm Island is home to one of the largest aboriginal communities in Queensland, and the new buildings have been developed by Queensland Department of Public Works to improve everyday life for the people of Palm Island.

Three unique carpet tile designs were created specifically for the project. They are based on designs by local Aboriginal artists Sandra Clay, Noby Clay and Gerard Nuggins. While each design was individually created for use in separate areas, the artists worked closely together to form complementary artwork designs.

These exquisite designs have undoubtedly had a major impact on the success of the two buildings, made possible by Ontera’s unique custom design capability using ‘Millitron’ dye injection technology.

More information on the carpet tiles used in this project is available from Ontera Modular Carpets.
