Moddex Systems supplied its modular, galvanised bikeway barriers to Queensland’s Sunshine Motorway Cycle Way Project in 2012.
Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads, through its Cycle Strategy 2011–2021, aims to double cycling's share of commuter trips to work by 2021, and triple this by 2031. Key to achieving this objective is investment in cycling infrastructure and facilities in road upgrades on priority cycle routes.
A recent major project was the Sunshine Motorway - Pacific Paradise Interchange providing a 2.3km safe, shared pathway between the Maroochy River Bridge and Ocean Drive on David Low Way for commuting cyclists and pedestrians.
Only Moddex’s Bikesafe bike path barriers could meet the Department of Transport and Main Roads’ galvanised requirements because of the high corrosion subtropical zone in which the bikeway is situated. Moddex bikeway barriers have an expected life to first maintenance of 30 years since there is no welding involved in the installation process.
For the Sunshine Motorway Cycle Way Project, Moddex provided 700 metres of pre-configured galvanised barriers to create the required safety barrier for cyclists.
