LevantaPark was engaged by the developers of a luxury inner city residential project in Melbourne to supply a customised parking solution for the building.
The new Bond Quarter residential development on Melbourne’s Spencer Street is located just 2km from the Melbourne CBD, and will feature 105 architecturally designed apartments and parking for 79 vehicles. As a luxury inner city development featuring high quality fixtures and finishes throughout, Bond Quarter called for an equally outstanding solution for vehicle storage for their residents.
The restricted space available for parking presented a major design challenge for LevantaPark. The site, which measured just 30 metres wide and 30 metres deep, would not be able to accommodate a conventional car parking setup. Additionally, the residential tower development was designed to preserve the building’s two-storey heritage facade. That meant LevantaPark’s design had to work within the confines of the old building.
These challenges called for clever parking design. LevantaPark’s design team created a high density car parking system that would work efficiently within the developer’s available space.
The custom designed auto car parking system consisted of a 6-level automatic car stacker that would easily accommodate the required 79 cars underground. The layout incorporated a vehicle turntable to move cars easily in and out of the limited space. Drivers were required to park their vehicles on a pallet parking system, which used an elevator to safely and securely store the vehicle in its allotted space.
Minimising car retrieval time was a crucial requirement for the residential building parking system. LevantaPark achieved this goal with a retrieval time of only 120-150 seconds.
LevantaPark’s design not only met the physical requirements of the brief, but could also be completed within the developer’s timeline. The Bond Quarter project is now under construction and scheduled for completion in late 2017.
