Len Wallis Audio  provide clients with lifestyle needs. The design and specification of building company and architectural firm Bellevarde Constructions (Site Foreman: Adam Howe) and Rice Daubney Architects (Andrew Coomer), Alberto Vangi (sales consultant), Trevor Livingstone (Crestron Programmer), Craig Leydon (Head Installer), Lee Vaughan and Ben Neale from EBM systems (C-Bus Specialists); all formed the team that worked towards developing a smart home that can only be described as great to use and amazing to live in.

Beginning with the kitchen area, one can find a Crestron 38cm (15-inch) colour touch screen that has a control set, including lighting, cooling and heating, security and scheduling. Working within the C-Bus system, Len Wallis Audio have the ability to control the pool equipment, the external gates, the garage door, the security cameras, air conditioning, in-floor heating, exhaust fans, external sun louvers, internal and external lighting. The C-Bus lighting is controlled by stainless steel reflection key switches. These reflection switches complement the architectural theme of the home. In the main bedroom, the C-Bus reflection switches control the external window motorised sun louvers.

The air-conditioning is also controlled through C-Bus, so if the owner is out for the day and wants the air-conditioning to turn on to heat or cool the home in the afternoon; he can easily schedule this to occur. The security system has an interface to the C-Bus allowing the two systems to work seamlessly together. When the homeowner is leaving, they can press the arm button on the security pad. This arms the security, activates C-Bus to start a shutdown procedure for the house, and notifies the security monitoring company they are leaving.

The home also has high-resolution colour security cameras monitoring the property. The cameras are controlled by a professional-grade DVR that records when a person comes into the viewing range of the camera, hence saving on recording time. The owner can view any event, record it to USB or disc and give it to the police as evidence. The pictures from the intercom and security camera can be viewed on the Crestron touch panel or any LCD within the home. The phone system in the house can also communicate to the front gate intercom and with the touch of button on the phone handset; the owner can open the gate.

Unlike front gate systems, this one has a thermostatic heater to stop the camera lens fogging in cold or wet weather. The high-resolution colour camera gives the picture of guests at the front gate, the keyless entry for pure convenience and the high grade stainless steel gives the perfect finish to entry of this elegant home.

In the living room located next to the kitchen is a 94cm (37-inch) Sharp LCD TV. Concealed on the opposite side of the joinery is a Panasonic DVD, player, recorder, digital tuner along with Foxtel box and a Crestron processor.

Yamaha amplification is used to power the ceiling speakers. Yamaha also provides the video switching. Maintaining uniformity in design the remaining electronics were the same as the living room, with Crestron again leading the way in control of lighting and the audio visual.

Walking down the designed stainless steel staircase, the person finds himself entering a dedicated theatre room. An InFocus projector projects an excellent image onto a 234cm (92-inch) Screen Science screen. Arising from a great idea of the owner, the screen is also mounted onto a hinge arm that allows the screen to be swung away from the wall to allow access to the pool’s pump room, which is located behind the screen.

To produce sound quality, JM Lab Chorus 800 series speakers were used for the front, centre and side-wall-mounted rear effects speakers. A Velodyne subwoofer adds the final changes to the sound with thunderous deep controlled bass. Powering the JM Lab speakers and providing the video switching is a Yamaha RX-V1800 surround receiver. Control of all the plus lighting is via a Crestron touch screen panel.

The master bedroom has breathtaking water views. These become evident once the motorised steel triple-section louvers are opened fully via the Crestron touch-screen panel.
