Leda Security Products announces the appointment of Len Place as chief executive officer at their head office in Tuggerah NSW.

Place succeeds David Matthews who will retire from Leda Security after 25 years at the helm as founder and managing director. During this time, Matthews has built Leda from a small engineering firm into a market leader and key player at the local, state and federal levels, assisting government departments to protect our cities and assets against the threat of terrorism and Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM).

Leda has manufacturing plants in Tuggerah NSW and Ningbo, China; operates a network of Sales and Service branches in all major capital cities across Australia; and employs approximately 100 staff nationally.

Leda is Australia’s leading manufacturer of over 1,200 perimeter security product lines within its four product groups: Bollards, Industrial Gates & Fencing, and Bicycle Parking.

Leda is a market leader in bicycle parking systems in Australia, having developed a comprehensive range of designs over the past 24 years. The company also supplies these products from its China plant to a number of international markets including North and South America as well as Singapore and closer home, to New Zealand.

Place’s appointment as CEO is part of an exciting period of growth and expansion for Leda as Federal, State and Local governments endeavour to protect their assets and citizens from terrorism.

"Len has a strong business development and manufacturing background," says Matthews. “Len’s experience in the engineering sector and building industry will be crucial in ensuring Leda takes full advantage of the growing need for Counter Terrorism Products.”

Place has performed a number of senior executive roles including general manager at Accent Mirage, general manager operations at Boral and group manufacturing manager of GWA Group.
