Kingspan Water & Energy is the first domestic wastewater treatment plant manufacturer to receive product certification under the latest Australian Standard – AS 1546.3:2017 for their BioFicient Series 1 system.
Kingspan is a globally recognised brand of market leading building materials, and known for insulated panels, insulation, rainwater storage tanks, diesel storage, access flooring and more. The Wastewater Treatment division has been manufacturing packaged wastewater treatment systems for over 60 years and has recently invested in the Australian business with the launch of the first in a series of fully accredited domestic wastewater treatment systems, designed specifically for the Australian market.
All domestic wastewater treatment systems used in Australia must be fully tested and accredited. The latest AS1546.3:2017 supersedes the outgoing 2008 standard and requires all products used, after December 2020, to hold the latest certification.
Although the industry was given 24 months to gain the latest certification, Kingspan decided to invest in their new BioFicient system and testing process to achieve the latest standard ahead of any other manufacturer.
In an accredited, independent testing facility, the BioFicient Series 1 was sampled on a daily and weekly basis for 34 weeks. During this time, the system was subjected to several stress tests to simulate use in an actual residential property.
Wastewater Sales Manager Gerry Quinn observed that gaining the latest Australian Standard certification was a lengthy, stringent process. Indeed, the accreditation process in Australia is now one of the most stringent in the world and should help protect the country by ensuring the standard of effluent discharged to the environment remains high.
The first to market the wastewater treatment system with the latest certification, Kingspan applauds the Government for investing in the industry and producing a world leading certification process.
