Keystone Linings manufactured custom CNC shaped plywood beams for a feature ceiling at the Cave Restaurant in Maroubra.

A creation of Koichi Takada Architects, the stunning restaurant was designed with the idea of changing the whole dining experience for patrons by providing a more pleasant environment. The acoustic quality of a restaurant contributes to the comfort and enjoyment of a dining experience.

The design team from Koichi Takada Architects created custom shaped timber profiles using acoustic curvatures developed with computer modelling to achieve a pleasant noise level, not only helping enhance the customer dining experience but also providing a visually interesting and complex design.

Keystone manufactured these custom CNC shaped plywood beams, ready for easy onsite assembly and installation by Bonar Interiors.

The Cave Restaurant project has been recognised with a number of awards, winning the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards (UK) International Restaurant 2011; and the International Property Awards (UK) Best Leisure Interior Australia 2011. The project was also shortlisted for the Australian Interior Design Awards 2010.
