Divers from Adelaide Professional Divers recently hired a small crane truck and a Minifor winch from Kennards Lift & Shift to assist in installing a cathodic protection system to the container terminal at Outer Harbour in Adelaide.

Initially thinking they would require a crane to lower 465 sacrificial anodes, each weighing 240kg, into 10m of water so they could be welded to the steel sheet piles, Adelaide Professional Divers were pleased to learn they could carry out the job by hiring a small crane truck and portable, electric Minifor winch from Kennards Lift & Shift.

Contracted by Flinders Ports for the four-month project, Adelaide Professional Divers were delighted with the product solution and service provided by Kennards Lift & Shift.

Tony Woodward of the Adelaide Professional Divers said the tabletop small crane truck was ideal because, as well having the rear-mounted crane, it could carry their required equipment easily.

“It was like a mobile workshop, and, as it is only two tonne, anyone with a car licence can drive it,” said Woodward.

The Minifor winch hired from Kennards Lift & Shift was able to lift up to 500kg, however when the divers need to remove some 520kg rubber fenders from the water a sheave block was added to increase the capacity to 950kg.

Kennards Lift & Shift also hires a smaller Minifor winch which can lift 300kg directly and 600kg when sheaved.

Minifor winches are versatile and can be used for a wide variety of pulling and lifting applications and are among a large range of rigging and materials handling equipment which can be hired from Kennards Lift & Shift outlets in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, and Wollongong.
