Kennards Lift & Shift  recently provided one of its mobile aluminium gantry cranes, a pallet truck and a telehandler to Edwards Construction, for use on a project at Illawara Senior College, Port Kembla.

The project involved construction a new metals workshop and refurbishing the old metalwork and woodwork facility to trade standard for the construction and timber joinery industries.

Kennards hire equipment items were required to provide a safe and efficient method of moving metalwork and woodwork lathes, weighing up to 400kg.

The mobile aluminium gantry crane features a chain block and was used to lift the lathes on to pallets, which were then moved by pallet truck to the telehandler.

“We had a very short time frame during school holidays, so it was important to find the safest and most efficient method,” said site manager, Grant Wilcox.

“What Kennards recommended worked really well. There wasn’t much room between some of the lathes, but it was easy setting up the gantry around them,” Wilcox added.

Kennards Lift & Shift has a range of gantry cranes for hire, including rolling gantries with a capacity of up to 5 tonne and beam spans up to 6 metres.
