Rubber-track mini crawler cranes, for use in confined spaces, can now be hired from Kennards Lift and Shift in Sydney. The larger model can lift up to 3.8 tonne, while the smaller unit has a 2.8 tonne capacity.
Manufactured by Maeda, the diesel-powered machines can be used for building, construction and landscaping, and are suitable for concrete panelling, sheeting, cladding and glass installation.
Rubber-track mini crawler cranes are also hired for plant maintenance, positioning heavy furniture through windows from the outside of buildings and relocating valuable art works.
The larger MC405 model is rare in Australia, with only a handful on the east coast. It lifts to 16.8m on the standard boom sections, with an optional fly jib extending vertical reach to a maximum 22m. Working in close, with the arm at a radius of 2.7m, the MC405 model can lift up to 3.83 tonne, and this reduces to 3.03 tonne when extended to 3.5m. The maximum working radius is 16m, at which point the load capacity is 210kg.
The MC405 model can pick up and carry items weighing up to 500kg, utilising two travel speeds. The machine has a hydrostatic transmission, stepless forward and reverse, pentagonal-shaped full automatic 5-stage telescopic boom and many electronic safety features. With outriggers contracted, the MC405 model is 4.98m long, 1.38m wide and 1.98m high.
The super-slim smaller model, the MC285, is 750mm wide, 2.715m long and 1.44m high, and can be transported on a trailer behind a medium size 4WD or truck. It has a maximum lifting height of 8.7m and load capacity of 2.82 tonne at a working radius of 1.4m. The capacity reduces to 300kg at the maximum working radius of 8.205m.
A C2 crane operator’s certificate is needed for both units.
