Scene Change in Tasmania has taken delivery of Philips Vari*Lite VL880 Spot luminaires primarily to service their busy corporate market.

Steve Fraser, technical director of Scene Change Tasmania explained they were most impressed by their whisper-quiet operation, which is very important in the world of corporate events.

The compact and economical luminaires are loaded with powerful and useful features, and come complete with all of the optical quality and functionality designers have come to expect from Philips Vari*Lite. The compact and lightweight design fits the requirements of corporate set-ups.

The VL880’s 800-watt MSR Platinum 35 lamp allows for a very impressive lumen output and offers a zoom range from 15° to 36°, plus a mechanical iris for continuous beam control. A drop-in frost glass assembly allows users to soften the overall beam, allowing for additional beam control.

Steve comments that the VL880 delivers everything one would expect from a Philips Vari*Lite luminaire such as rich colour mixing, fast and smooth moment, precise gobo images, and smooth fades. Apart from the superior optics and amazing zoom, the colour mixing is good too, producing some beautiful rich colours. He adds their stock gobo patterns are great.

The VL880 Spot luminaire provides brilliant colour mixing with its three-wheel CYM colour assembly and when combined with eight standard colours on a fixed wheel, the colour options are practically limitless.

Steve concludes that the VL880 Spot luminaires really live up to the Vari*Lite reputation for quality and reliability.
