Lighting designs created for concert tours using the Jands Vista control system have been recognised with nominations for the designers at the prestigious 2016 Parnelli Awards. High-profile lighting designers, Rob Sinclair and Chris Reade were nominated in the ‘Lighting Designer of the Year’ category, for their leading edge Peter Gabriel and Dierks Bentley concert tour designs utilising show lighting and media control by Jands Vista.

The Parnelli Awards recognise pioneering, influential professionals and their contributions, honouring both individuals and companies in the industry.

A long-time Vista user, Rob Sinclair was engaged to design the lighting for Peter Gabriel as part of the ‘Rock Paper Scissors’ summer co-headline concert tour in North America with Sting. Rob designed and programmed the lighting for songs written by Peter Gabriel with the occasional song being performed by Sting.

Describing the Vista as a team player, Rob said he worked closely with Sting’s lighting designer Danny Nolan, as they alternated songs and consoles. Rob had earlier used his Jands Vista lighting console for creating the lighting designs for previous Peter Gabriel tours as well as for many other high-profile contemporary music artists.

Lighting designer Chris Reade, who was also nominated for the 2016 Parnelli Awards, has been using his Jands Vista system to design and control lighting on numerous Dierks Bentley tours over the past decade. For the latest ‘Somewhere on a Beach’ international tour, Chris’ design features eight automated trusses and cues with the rig comprising of moving wash and profile fixtures, and LED strobes. One of the design highlights involved the washlights forming an extension of a runway featured in on-screen video footage, and the flashing lights on the wings of airline tips.

Chris describes the Vista as the most stable console he has worked on in his entire career. Being a visual console, the Vista allows him to go into the timeline, see the parameters per instrument that are active in that cue, and change the parameters in seconds. The logical and intuitive controls simplify even complicated functions.

Designed to provide cutting edge lighting and media control to suit almost any scale of show or budget, the award-winning Jands Vista system enables all users to enjoy the same powerful yet simple control as the world’s leading designers and international touring productions.
