INVISTA , manufacturers of nylon and Antron carpet fibre, have introduced more than 50 Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon colours with 25% pre-consumer recycled content.

Additionally, the new recycled content fibres have been proven to meet all Antron brand performance criteria.

“Offering 25 percent pre-consumer recycled content in more than 50 versatile colours gives carpet mills tremendous flexibility to design beautiful carpets with recycled content, all while delivering the same great performance the industry has come to expect from Antron carpet fibre,” said Bobby Berrier, Vice President, commercial interiors, for INVISTA based in the U.S.

“The colours we converted to 25 percent recycled content are among our most popular and were selected to work together, enabling the design of carpets with recycled content ready to help the commercial market reach its sustainability goals.”

“This is one example of INVISTA’s firm commitment to resource stewardship, waste elimination and environmental protection. These values are central to our culture, which guides every decision we make,” said Bobby Berrier.

“We start by producing a high-performing, durable carpet fibre, as we believe sustainability begins with carpet that lasts.”

INVISTA colour specialists, working closely with mill product development teams, conducted a thorough analysis of style trends and colour forecasts to determine by market segment, which colours from the Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon line should be developed with recycled content to meet the market needs.

“This development is great news for architects, designers and others involved in the specification of carpet throughout the Asia Pacific region,” said William Yeoh, Vice President INVISTA Performance Surfaces & Materials Asia Pacific based in Singapore.

Ralph Grogan, Chief Operating Officer of U.S.-based carpet mill Tandus said, "One of our largest clients, the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), has high sustainability standards and needs the most sustainable carpet available in the marketplace.”

“Using INVISTA's Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon with recycled content as the carpet fibre, we were able to achieve the results that LACCD wanted.”

“Our product designers liked having more colour options with recycled content so they could create attractive and inspiring carpet styles for the LACCD portfolio."

Valerie Ottaviano, Vice President of product design for U.S.-based carpet mill Bentley Prince Street, said, “INVISTA’s new recycled content offering makes a huge impact on product development, giving us a wide selection of colours, including light neutrals, to design innovative carpet styles with recycled content.”

“This is important because we have seen an increase among end users who are asking for products with recycled content face fibre.”

Bentley Prince Street used Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon with recycled content in the ‘Functional Expressions’ collection, launched in February.

U.S.-based mills Atlas Carpet Mills, Bentley Prince Street, InterfaceFLOR, Mannington Commercial, Masland Contract and Pacificrest Mills all showcased carpet collections manufactured with the new recycled content colours at NeoCon World Trade Fair being held in Chicago last month.

INVISTA’s High Recycled Content Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon and High Recycled Content ANTRON Legac white dyeable nylon with a minimum of 90% pre-consumer recycled content are also available upon request.

The Antron nylon was the ideal carpet face fibre to be certified, and recertified as an Environmentally Preferable Product by Scientific Certification Systems.

The Antron nylon constructed with type 6,6 nylon polymer, good fibre engineering and treated with DuraTech soil resistance chemical treatment. Carpets made with Antron carpet fibre must pass the 14 point Antron Brand Performance Certification Standard for durable performance in construction, before they can bear the Antron brand name.
