Swisspearl high density fibre cement cladding was specified for the facade of the new and contemporary Wickham Community Hub in Karratha.

Beautifully designed as a shared facility by Gresley Abbas Perth architects, the community hub provides locals with a flexible and functional multiuse space. Swisspearl met the stringent design criteria demanded for the facade, given the community hub’s location in the challenging environment of the remote north of Western Australia.

Swisspearl was the obvious choice to ensure long term performance in the harsh Wickham environment – one that was based in the highest wind region in Australia (Category D). Attributes such as performance in cyclonic conditions, excellent impact resistance, low maintenance and high UV performance, made Swisspearl high density fibre cement cladding the ideal solution to a complex design.

Key features of Swisspearl fibre cement cladding include fire resistance, meeting NCC fire requirements for non-combustibility; and choice of 14 standard colours and 11 custom colours ensuring the aesthetic objectives of the project are achieved.

To facilitate smooth supply and installation in the remote region, over 2000 individual cut-to-size Swisspearl Carat HR panels, totally measuring 1200 square metres were supplied directly from the factory in Switzerland, individually numbered and packed as per the elevation.

The project is expected to be complete by end-2018.

Swisspearl high density fibre cement cladding is available in Australia from HVG Facades.
