GreenSmart Village at HomeWorld, Kellyville, constructed by Wesley Mission, has won three major housing industry awards. It won the Environment Australia Partnership Award from a national field of entries, received another award for the use of environmental power, and most recently walked off with a best display home award from the Master Builders’ Association .

The GreenSmart Village was built in partnership with the HIA , HomeWorld, Australand, Wincrest Homes and The Copper Development Centre. Wesley Mission will sell the four homes next year with the expected $1.5 million profit being used to support Wesley Mission’s disability services.

The NSW Government through Landcom donated the land for the Kellyville project. The four homes, one of which is SmartWired showcase the latest in environmental management. All homes have a five star SEDA rating.

The SmartWired home was also joint winner of the EnviroPower GreenSmart Smart Housing Award. At a separate event, the same home built by Wincrest Homes won Best Display Home from $160,001 to $200,000 at the Annual Master Builders’ Association Awards. Wesley Mission is currently building Queensland’s first GreenSmart Village in partnership with Lend Lease, the CSIRO and the HIA at North Lakes in Brisbane.

“The project is a model of what charities can do in partnership with industry in order to create a better environment while generating much-needed income for those in need,” the Rev Dr Gordon Moyes, Superintendent of Wesley Mission, said.
