The Hettich Design Challenge to be held at designEX in May this year invites professional young designers to showcase their skills to the Australian design community.

Entries are now open for the 2012 Hettich Design Challenge, supported by the Design Institute of Australia.

This year’s brief for entrants, says Nick Karlovasitis from the Design Institute of Australia is centred on creating storage solutions using Hettich components for compact spaces, a theme that is ‘particularly relevant for the changing Australian interior landscape’.

The Hettich Design Challenge will see four finalists compete on-site over three days to create integrated, freestanding or mobile storage systems for high-density living spaces. Each design must include three components from a range of Hettich products, including the award-winning Sensys range of soft-closing hinges.

The winner, to be announced on the final day of the show will receive a $2,500 cash prize. In addition to showcasing their skills in the presence of a high profile design community, participants will also be able to represent their company at one of Australia’s most prestigious design events.

Hettich Marketing Manager, Dave Angus comments that the company looks forward to seeing what some of Australia’s up and coming designers will be able to do with innovative Hettich hardware and fittings.

designEX 2012 will be held at the Sydney Exhibition Centre from 14 May to 16 May 2012. Entrants should have no more than three years of experience and must be supported by their firm. Entries close March 25.
