The Hebel PowerPanel system was specified as the building material of choice for The Tempo, a new apartment project in Mascot NSW.

Representing a new benchmark in executive city fringe accommodation, The Tempo consists of 209 superbly designed one, two and three bedroom city view apartments, along with a car park and commercial and retail opportunities.

Architectural firm Beraldo Design has created an environmentally responsible building that embodies the fundamentals of site planning, orientation and sustainable building methods. By specifying CSR Hebel for the unique module configuration of loft style apartments, Beraldo was able to deliver the thermal and acoustic efficiency required for the development, and achieve the promise of ‘whisper-quiet’ apartment living.

A high performance autoclaved aerated concrete panel system, Hebel PowerPanel provides solid, secure, steel-reinforced walls, boasting strong acoustic values for added privacy and sound insulation.

Beraldo chose Hebel PowerPanel as the building material of choice based on its high levels of sustainability and green credentials, especially its Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) label. According to the GECA assessment, Hebel products and systems have significantly reduced environmental loads of at least 30 per cent over their lifecycle.

Hebel PowerPanel was also specified for its high fire-resistant properties, fast construction time, flexibility and lightweight attributes.

Totally, 11,000m² of Hebel PowerPanel were used for the internal party walls and 10,000m² of Hebel PowerPanel were installed for the external facade walls.

By installing the Hebel PowerPanel concrete panel system, Casumo Constructions has been able to achieve a design that wouldn’t have been possible using other building materials whilst attaining both thermal and acoustic efficiency. The builder also benefitted from cost savings due to the speed of the build, reduced crane time and low wastage along with the design and sustainability advantages.

Leo Metlege, Construction Manager, Casumo Constructions noted that Hebel helped in the reduction of material movement in addition to achieving greater speed of installation and efficient waste control. CSR’s involvement during the construction process made it a seamless project.

Metlege is confident they will use Hebel again on their next project, with the benefits during construction including speed of installation, cleanliness of the site and flexibility of design far outweighing brickwork advantages. Casumo Constructions has also received excellent feedback from apartment owners on the quality finishes and acoustics in the apartments.
