This year’s event has special significance for the organisers and their partner, Hafele. The exhibition is celebrating its 50th birthday, and Häfele have been in existence for 85 years. Häfele subsidiary Schneider, system partner for functional workplace design, have also completed 100 years.
The Interzum exhibition in Cologne is the international shop window for the furniture accessory industry. The 1100sqm stand belonging to Häfele, specialists in hardware technology and locking systems, is a communication platform and rendezvous for furniture manufacturers and designers.
On the occasion of Interzum’s 50th birthday, the special theme for the company’s exhibition appearance is ‘Smart Spaces’. A wide range of new products and clever ideas can be viewed in the Häfele living and working environments ‘In Motion’ in the exhibition.
The 2009 living trend is to overcome the classical separation of the bedroom, the bathroom and the working, dining and living areas. The individual room increases in size, but less and less storage space is available. Häfele solve this contradiction with clever storage space concepts and intelligent use of existing surfaces, spaces and recesses. Häfele extend the functionality of furniture and makes it flexible, mobile, rotating, sliding and moveable or makes it disappear if it is not needed.
