Restaurant owners have the onerous task of ensuring that the floors at their business are safe for employees and guests. Floors can become dangerously slippery when they become wet from product spillage, water being tracked in from outdoors, or from water that is dripped or splashed in restrooms. It is essential that the floors have anti-slip properties to ensure pedestrian safety.

Grip Guard Non-Slip  treatment was recently installed at a popular Pizza Hut restaurant in St. Andrews, Sydney. The entire dining and eating areas, as well as the restrooms were treated to ensure pedestrian safety. The treatment raised the friction (slip resistance) of the floor's surface dramatically – especially when wet.

The floors at the restaurant could be walked on immediately after the non-slip treatment was completed. Grip Guard non-slip treatment is not a coating that sits on the top of the floor, only to be worn away over time. The treatment modifies the internal structure of the floor reducing the possibility of a pedestrian aquaplaning across the surface of the tile, a common cause of slips and falls.

Grip Guard non-slip treatment is suitable for a wide variety of floor surfaces including ceramics, porcelain, terrazzo, marble, granite, concrete, exposed aggregate and other stone-based floors. Unlike etches that abrade the uppermost surface changing its colour or dulling its shine, the treatment does not change the appearance of the floor surface.

Grip Guard Non Slip operators provide clients with slip resistance measurements (taken by an ASM slip meter) both before and after treatment. This provides property owners with evidence that they have addressed the issue of ‘duty of care’ in regard to pedestrian surfaces.

Grip Guard Non-Slip’s Sydney representative, Marcus Jagan, carried out the works at the Sydney restaurant.
