Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) has partnered with the US-based
Green Building Information Gateway (GBIG) to showcase Australia’s flourishing
green building capabilities to global investors and decision-makers. GBIG is an
online platform featuring data and case studies on green building projects,
portfolios, people and places around the world.
With over 1.3 million activities representing more than 200 types of
certifications, awards, case studies and disclosures in over 5,000 geographic
locations, GBIG complements the GBCA’s Green Star project directory. Green
building professionals can use this information to understand markets and drive
projects toward higher levels of achievement and performance.
GBCA’s Chief Executive Officer Romilly Madew observes that building
owners and managers have more information at their fingertips than ever before.
GBIG brings information, including information about Green Star-certified projects, together
in one database making it easier for international investors to gain data,
analysis and insights about high-performing green buildings in Australia.
GBIG’s director Chris Pyke comments that the collaboration with GBCA will
have the two partners sharing data on the accomplishments of the green building
movement in addition to celebrating the people and organisations contributing
to superior buildings around the world.
He added that GBCA members will now have access to GBIG’s tools to raise
the profile of their work and stay up-to-date on green building trends. While
the database is freely available, GBCA members will have special access to
additional features, such as regular updates on new certifications, awards,
case studies, disclosures, and other green building activities.
According to Madew, the new partnership builds on GBCA’s strong
relationship with GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark) in confirming
the role of Green Star rating tools in international best practice. She adds
that the partnership with GBIG goes beyond the exchange of project data, and
will enable GBCA members to showcase their contributions to Green Star-rated buildings
and to outline their green building credentials to a global audience.
