Both new buildings as well as refurbished or retrofitted buildings are benefitting from the green trend.

Australia’s growth in green building projects is driven by the low-rise residential sector. According to the report, fifty per cent of Australian respondents said that reducing energy use and protecting natural resources were the top environmental reasons for building green.

A UK report from 2013 also highlighted how energy efficient improvements can increase the value of homes by 38 per cent. There is no doubt that energy efficient homes are easier to sell and can fetch higher prices in the market.
