Fielders Australia contributed sustainable and environment-friendly roofing materials for Australia’s very first Zero Carbon Challenge House in South Australia.

Working alongside TS4 Sustainable Living, Fielders Steel Roofing supplied its innovative KingKlip 700 and S-Rib corrugated roofing for the revolutionary home, which was built following TS4 Living’s win in the 2012 Zero Carbon Challenge competition run by the Government of South Australia.

Matt Lloyde, Fielders General Manager - Marketing & Engineering explains that the steel roofing, being highly heat reflective, will not only assist in reducing the thermal gain and therefore the energy requirements for the home, but also increase its eco-friendly credentials with a high recycled content and 100 per cent recyclability at the end of its lifespan in many years to come.

Australia’s first zero carbon house, a three-bedroom home based in Lochiel Park was delivered by TS4 Living in just four months and has set the benchmark for affordable, environment-friendly design and construction so future smart homes can be replicated and delivered Australia-wide.

Key features of the house include a 7.5 star energy rating, solar power, state-of-the-art indirect evaporative cooling, bio-fuel heating and energy-efficient appliances; the house is also positioned to maximise solar-passive strategies.

According to Mr Lloyde, the Fielders team is always keen to contribute to projects like the Zero Carbon House, which strive to push the boundaries of existing design to deliver optimum efficiency and sustainability.
